New guy - BK-17 sheath question

I recently lost my mind and went all crazy on the internet.

By the end of the week I will have a BK-16, BK-17, and BK-14.

Why start with just one?

But I'm not a fan of the cordura sheaths. Does anyone know if the kabar "short" sheath on their website will fit a BK-17 or BK-16?

I tried the search function and had an hour or two of enjoyable reading that was very education, but did not seem to answer this question.

Thanks!

I understand that. The blade length on the short kabar is longer at 5.25", so the sheath should be plenty long enough for a tweener. Still a little too long, but no more so than the factory tweener sheath. But I am concerned about blade height. I can't be sure from the photos, but the tweener blade looks taller than the kabar.

Plastic/kydex sheaths aren't like nylon ones where they can potentially fit multiple knives other than the one the sheath was designed for. Look at the points of retention on the short GFN sheath, it holds in at the bottom and top guard...The 17 has no top guard and a very different handle. Its a long shot that the 17 will fit.

I just tried my BK17 in the leather Ka-Bar short sheath. It is a hair too wide. You might be able to put it in if you let it cut into the welt a tad but I didnt try to force it. Also looks like the strap at the top is too short to go around the handle.

Thanks Psyop, thats what I needed to know.

I don't have your skills, so I wouldn't want to mess with the sheath part, but a leather strap I could do. I'll have to think about it a little. I'm travelling this week, I'll try in in a full size kabar sheath I have at home and see if its something I feel comfortable attempting.

Look into the 710s work, he makes great kydex sheaths, I have two from him and they're awesome. If you want full leather you can take a look at sky storm or sage wood leather, both make nice looking stuff, which I'm sure others on here can vouch for the quality of.
