Hi all. Long time lurker, and actually joined years back but cant remember my old password or email. Oh well. Name is Todd, from SE MN. Have been interested for years in the art of knife making, but up to now, it's just been on the back burner. With a new year comes new ambitions, so I decided to move on this and get serious. I have a large 40x60 shop, mostly used for auto work, welding, boat storage etc. Within that shop, I recently built a 15x15 insulated room that is solely dedicated to knife making. Ican use it during the cold months and not have to heat the whole shop.
Acquiring some tools as I go. So far, a drill press, bandsaw, making a 2x72 grinder, picking up a 2hp motor up this weekend. A stationary knife clamp for sanding etc. Scribes, files and some other misc items.
I have zero exp producing a knife from a blank of steel or forging. Have done a few mods and some rehandling, but that's about it.
Have years of fab skills and countless notebooks filled with sketches of knives, so I think I'm in it for the long haul.
Have read more posts than I can recall on here and have a pretty good understanding of how the process works, but like any noob, there will be questions. Bear with me.....
