So I've been doing some reading and I haven't been able to find my answers so here's my questions
What kind of metal and how hard are the kukris that HI makes I have no doubt that there best but I had a Co-worker wanting to know
My second question is how does the DOTD work being a new guy I'm I able to get in on the action and if I'm looking for a specific kukri how do I go about getting them and the ones that I'm looking for are the VBCAK and the KMVUK how much do they sell for and how do I go about buying them
These will be my first khukuris I've ALWAYS wanted one but didn't want a cheap knock off but I know with Himalayan imports I don't have to worry about shotty work
Thanks CJ

Welcome CJ. HI Khuks are I believe made from spring steel. This is differentially tempered so the hardness varies across the length of the edge. The back of the recurve is softer so more flexible and the sweet spot in the belly harder for cutting then the tip softer again. One of the guys can probably fill in the specific HRc averages better than I.

Yes you can get in on the DotDs. When you see one you want just email Auntie at the email address she includes at the end of her post. himimp@aol.com Tell her which DotD item you want and your name/shipping address and how you are planning to pay if you are the first emailer for that item (easiest I believe is paypal) She will then respond. If you get the Done Deal email that means you were the first about that particular blade and get it. She will also include a price for shipping to the address you included to be added to the DotD cost for total you need to pay.

The DotDs are unique offerings and you never know what they might be. If you want to order a specific blade. You would need to order it from the website Karda included in his post. Also it is more expensive that way as many of the DotDs are sold for low prices because of minor imperfections, (shrinkage or slight damage to the handle. a small fold in the steel, missing karda/chakma.) usually nothing that affects the usage of the knife but not perfect either.

I do not patronize PP because of their anti-firearm policy - I'm not going to reward them with any contribution of fees. Auntie was fine with my money order.

Makes sense to me. I have used PP for a few firearms in the past so did not know they had a "policy" I would love to see them and square sued over that. Seems to me that being able to use my money for purchasing any legal to own item should not be against some "policy" I wonder if anyone has considered a class action lawsuit. The NRA should consider if there is a legal right being infringed there. Might have to look at other options for the future now that I know.

I believe if you have paypal account then you opted out of class action suit possibilities several months ago. You would have to file suit yourself. I dont know why you would want to do that tho. If you dont agree with the policy simply dont use it.

So many companies now days are anti gun, you can't possibly avoid them all.

PayPal is a private company so they can do whatever they want, only lawyers could dream up schemes to sue a private company for doing whatever they want. I avoid them but in some cases they are the easiest way to go for an impatient person like myself.
It's just like this forum, it's privately owned and what the owner allows or doesn't allow is the end, there is no freedom of speech or first amendment. Say something wrong and your banned it's over. It's their forum. Play by the rules or seek life elsewhere. Like a business owner that doesn't want me in their shop because of how I look, I got no issue with that, it's his business, he just lost mine.

It's sad that companies can't see logic and common sense but most big companies and rich folks don't get it.

I partially agree with Bawanna: Paypal and other companies like it have no obligation to allow people to use their services to buy what ever they want. I partially disagree with Bawanna: Paypal's decision makes sense considering they are potentially liable if some used their company to pay for something that is illegal to own; common sense dictates caution on the company's part.

I hadn't considered that angle, again something a lawyer would dream about. Too a logical person with more common sense than intelligence with no lawyers involved it wouldn't be an issue. PayPal is the medium to purchase, the money changing hands is their only business. What's bought and sold is irrelevant. It's sort of like a lawsuit for spilled hot coffee, completely senseless, coffee is hot, duh. When it rains the road gets wet.

But we're on the same page John T. Hadn't considered that perspective.

A kind and helpful member notified me that the shipping prices in my link were outdated. They Have been updated.
My Thankfulness is unending.

Hey, no skin off of my nose if they don't believe as I do. If I'm not wanted, I don't go there. Just keep'n it simple makes my life easier.

I agree and I try to not support the places that are against things that are dear to me, guns being # 1 on my dear list.
The video joint in town that we used regularly put up a no gun sign, near went out of business over night. They took it down and all was well again, so it does matter.

Just so many against us, it's hard to avoid them all but we do what we can.

I have paid auntie many many times with postal money orders, I think they are a fine way to transact safely. ( plus you don't make a mistake of getting overdrawn or over charged since you can only put on a MO what you have in your pocket)-- as a merchant myself I am not one to denigrate the middle man, but whenever possible , direct is best ( in trade)
