Hey everyone I'm new here. I am looking for a knife for hunting. I'm interested in the bk2 but I don't need a knife that I can chop a tree down with I have a pack hatchet for that . if the bk2 didn't have such a thick heavy blade on it I would be getting it but it's a little bit much for my needs. Handle doesn't really matter as I am going to get a custom one made to match my custom longbow. Just needing a good sharp knife I can use for skinning, camping and other tasks.

swamp rat RMD
it is one of the most compy handles out there
i would also recommend the bark river bravo 1.5

If you like everything about the BK2 except the thickness (and I agree with you on that) check out the Becker 'Tweeners, BK 15; 16 and 17. Either of those will serve you well.

First off....Welcome!!!

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a Becker knife. As Franciscomv said, the 15, 16 and 17 are amazing. I'm also a big fan of the 5 as it has a very useful blade design. As far as other brands go.....I'd give the Ontario OKC Ranger a look. Its smaller (5.25"), is still built well and priced very well also. Good luck to ya and let us know what you decide to go with

Bk 16 is a good choice. I would get it in your hands before deciding on scales! I would also look at the ESEE knives.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I going to go with the bk16. Who can make me a set of scales?

Go to the Becker sub-forum. There are a few members there that make scales for the Beckers.
Excellent choice. I have been thing about a FFG 16

Yep the Beckers are great. The BK-15 is my favourite in the size you are looking at. I'd also consider others like the ESEE-4, Fallkniven F1 and S1, Bark River Aurora or Bravo 1/1.5.

welcome! Id have to agree w a fiddleback forge if you want a classy, gorgeous, functional blade to comp your bow. but youre gonna pay for it. any of the others mentioned will fill that roll if you don't want to spend that kinda money. COME ON! SPEND IT! youll pass both down as heirlooms
