Hi guys. Mauser here.
OK so not new to bladeforums or knives but new to Spyderco.
Until last month, I have not bought any knives but KABAR for the last 5 years. I wanted 1 of every KABAR manufactured Becker before buying anything else. I finally got my last Becker and have been drooling over Spydercos in anticipation for the last few months.
I already knew I wanted a Spyderco. Lurking here for the last few months I was also very impressed with Sal Glesser and the way he interacts with the public and stands behind his company.
That really sold me and the only problem now was which one? So many amazing looking knives. I am interested in the salt line and will definitely be getting one of those.
But once I saw the Yojimbo 2 I was in love with that blade. Then I found out it was designed by Michael Janich. Big fan of him and his teaching. So I went with that one first. Being the perfect size to legally conceal in Colorado was great too.
I am very happy with the Yojimbo 2. I'm impressed with the compression lock and the amazingly even and beautiful grinds on the blade. This is permanently in my front pocket.
The one thing that surprised me, its not very sharp. Wont slice paper or shave hair on my arm at all. But i will fix it.
I dont want to scratch it up trying to sharpen it in my normal methods. So I feel like I should wait until I can buy the Spyderco sharpener before doing anything about it. I hear its a great sharpener.
Also, A big thanks to my friend CF1969 for all the tips on Spydero stuff.
Sorry about the giant introduction. Hopefully these pictures make up for it a little.
