Hi guys. Mauser here.

OK so not new to bladeforums or knives but new to Spyderco.

Until last month, I have not bought any knives but KABAR for the last 5 years. I wanted 1 of every KABAR manufactured Becker before buying anything else. I finally got my last Becker and have been drooling over Spydercos in anticipation for the last few months.

I already knew I wanted a Spyderco. Lurking here for the last few months I was also very impressed with Sal Glesser and the way he interacts with the public and stands behind his company.

That really sold me and the only problem now was which one? So many amazing looking knives. I am interested in the salt line and will definitely be getting one of those.

But once I saw the Yojimbo 2 I was in love with that blade. Then I found out it was designed by Michael Janich. Big fan of him and his teaching. So I went with that one first. Being the perfect size to legally conceal in Colorado was great too.

I am very happy with the Yojimbo 2. I'm impressed with the compression lock and the amazingly even and beautiful grinds on the blade. This is permanently in my front pocket.

The one thing that surprised me, its not very sharp. Wont slice paper or shave hair on my arm at all. But i will fix it.

I dont want to scratch it up trying to sharpen it in my normal methods. So I feel like I should wait until I can buy the Spyderco sharpener before doing anything about it. I hear its a great sharpener.

Also, A big thanks to my friend CF1969 for all the tips on Spydero stuff.

Sorry about the giant introduction. Hopefully these pictures make up for it a little. :)

A friend of mine bought one last week.

I was surprised by how thick the blade is. It feels great in the hand too.

Congrats. It won't be your last Spyderco.

Welcome Mauser.

Good to hear about you reaching your goal with the Beckers. I have a ways to go there, all these awesome Spydies are taking up my time and money these days.

I like the Yo 2 as well. Good pickup. You'll need a PM2 soon though.....haha

Welcome mauser.

Nice 10mm, take a pic with a k98 and the yojimbo, just assuming.

It's so funny how they all can come so different.

My yojimbo 2 came sharper then any factory blade I have ever received ever. Just insanely sharp.

Thanks. Yes its a keeper for sure. And I have to agree with you, I am all ready looking at which will be next. :)

Nice, and welcome to the subforum!

Thank you.

Thanks Td! Yes I think I have the Spyderco sickness already. Good to know I have friends to celebrate and commiserate with. Your Instagram was no help. :D I really like the looks of the Double Bevel. I was trying to decide between the PM2 and the Double Bevel when I found the Yojimo2.

Nice buy! Are you going to collect one of every Spyderco now?! :D

Thank you. LOL I'm crazy but not crazy enough to believe I can achieve that one. But I am already struggling with which one is next.

Haha I could do that. I see you have me pegged as the gun nut I am also. You want to know something else? Mauser is my real last name.

Yes that is funny. But I guess with as many as they must make it makes sense. Just the luck of the draw. I am sure I will have it nice and sharp soon. I heard they will sharpen it at the SFO for $5. I'm thinking about doing that to hold me over until I buy the sharpener. Plus its got to be so cool to visit the motherland.

Hi B.Mauser,

Thanx for the trust and welcome to our world,.

sal

Thank you Sal! I'm excited to be here. :)

Excellent choice! Great taste in design and inspiration. :)

Also a good move looking into the Sharpmaker next. Pick up some CBN triangles along with it (well worth the cost it will return your money in no time), and from that point forward "out of the box" sharpness will no longer matter since it will all be within your own control.

Just be aware of the very tip material of the S30V on that blade.

Thanks buddy. Yeah, my IG is no help to anyone wanting to stay away from Spyderco. Haha. Glad you picked up the Yo 2 instead of the DB. I think you made the right call. Love my DB for sure, but the Yo 2 is a better blade. In fact, I'm seriously considering one at the moment.

Thank you SpeedHoles. I was thinking the same thing on out of the box sharpness. Its temporary. Keeping it sharp is up to me. Thanks for the tips on the CBN triangles. I will look into them.

I will be watching for it on IG. :D
