Hello everyone. Figured I'd stop lurking and pull up a chair. Back when I was younger I owned a half decent kukri and loved it. Eventually misplaced it during one of several moves and kicked myself since. I collect functional knives and blades (I don't like the word collect, I do a lot outdoors and use every blade I own - but after so many, collection seems like a more appropriate term), and actually just purchased my girlfriend a kukri for Valentines day, (before getting one for myself) and she loved it.

We go camping and hiking a lot so it's something she'd use, as well as looking beautiful.

Anyway, I find myself itching to pick me up one as well. I've done my research and would love to at some point pick up an chiruwa Ang Khola, but honestly, at this point, I want to pick up anything just to get into them.

I love having my knives for every occasion, but kukri's just feel like they fill so many roles that some knives only do singularly well. That and they look beautiful, and I love the history behind them. Can't beat it.

Anyhow, hopefully that wasn't too much of a rant, basically just saying hello :)

Greetings Magellan!Welcome. As a knife enthusiast, I must say that there are a lot of nice folks here on the HI forum, and HI blades are awesome.Very glad to have found both.I think you will find most everyone helpful and kind, and Ms.Yangdu will take care of your kukri (or bowie)needs. Have fun! Joe.

I am new to khuks myself, and since discovering HI I have not been able to stop buying these things. They are such great tools, and each is a beautifully crafted work of art. HI is a great business and Yangdu is a pleasure to do business with.

Welcome aboard, and sorry at the same time :) You have entered a VERY addictive place. HI makes some amazing products, im sure you will find a few that will meet your needs. Auntie is the best as you will see.

Glad to have you around:) Lots of great folks around here. If you need anything, just ask away:)

Resistance is futile. Welcome fellow Khuk addict. I'm a green noob myself but these things, just reach out and grab ya by the purse strings.

Definitely at all cost never look at Aunties deal of the day post. Avoid it at all cost. Again resistance is futile.

Lots of well versed knowledgeable people here, sadly I'm not one of them but they let me hang out from time to time.

Welcome. I was you just last week. And I just received my second and third khukuris.

Good luck balancing the banking statements!

Well said by Bawanna. To get started it is always a good idea to buy some reasonably priced Kukris first, trying them out in the field. But sometimes it's hard to stop buying new blades.
I like your on-line name MagellanV13. Ferdinand Magellan was a great Portuguese explorer who was killed by Philippine King Lapu Lapu at Battle of Mactan. Many of my Filipino friends know this name. I assume this Magellan was your inspiration.
It sounds like you already know the benefits of the Kukri so have fun using this very useful tool.

Welcome Magellanv13! I started browsing the HI forum about a week ago and have already ordered a smaller Bashpati for my son's birthday and a Chitlangi for myself so watch out for the addiction factor, especially with the deals of the day. Next up is an M-43 and then maybe an intervention...?

No Torm No!!!!

The interventions don't work.....those folks freak and run away screaming when you show them your kuk's. Really they have no sense of humor. Smile at em and they think your snarling.

They just don't understand us.

I snagged two from the dotd. Sadly they haven't arrived after a week so far, I think the mail man goofed. Gotta get over there and figure it out. I'm a sad panda right now haha. Can't wait for my beautiful kuks. I know it'll be the start of one serious blade addiction.
