FNG here, lurked for a little while thought I'd post an introduction and I have a question.

I received my first knives in Cub Scouts and have carried some sort of pocket knife every since then. I don't have much of a collection, hopefully that will start to change.

I have a SAK Adventurer and Tinker (my EDC), a Buck 119, Cattaraugus 225Q, a Taiwanese serrated folder and just recently received a S&W Extreme Ops Tanto folder for Christmas.

Hi Dorito Monk, I had a question but then decided it wasn't a very good one and has probably been asked a million times...

I'll ask it anyways.

Background: The S&W Extreme Ops Tanto is in a word...terrible. I have loctited all the screws, filed down some of the sharp edges on the handle and liner and smoothed out the G10 handle right under the clip. Biggest issue (other than the suspect liner lock) is how bad the steel is.

Questions: What angle would be best on this bad blade? It appears to have been ground/initially sharpened at around a 20 degree angle. Would a 25 degree angle work better on a cheap blade? Or should I just work on my freehanding skills?

It may be a cheap blade, but I see it as an opportunity to learn more.

might be better if you asked this question in the "shop/bladesmith section".
gl.
