Hello Mr. Garsson. I actually trained with some JKI members out this way on the east coast for a while a few years ago. Never had the priviledge of meeting Sensei Shimabakuro though. Right now we train in MJER in an independent dojo and have a loose Association with the Roshukai So I guess we have a bit in common. Thanks for the welcome!

Good to see you here....BladeForums has a high number of "practitioners" interested in the "practical" without having any sense of history, lineage or real training, so it is always nice to see someone who actually embraces these things....you can see this for yourself by the lack of general warm greeting....others have looked at your post, but as your are an instructor who has some background....they don't know what to say.....THAT said, it is a great place and if you can stay the course, it can be very rewarding....just like swordsmanship training, neh?

Matane, and Best Regards,

I practiced MJER for a while too! Not nearly as long as you guys though.
I studied with Mike Brown in RI a number of years ago.

Well, then you should participate regularly here on Sword Discussion and try to bring some insights into the discussions!

I've certainly considered it in the past as I've owned, researched, and sold lots of swords. I honsetly don't have an excuse for not posting in this subforum a bit more. I guess I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to the subject of swords and swordsmanship and therefore wouldn't have much to say.

We are ALL beginners at some thing, some technique, some style, some attempt at new cutting media.

In my Art, we say,"shoshin", beginner's mind, which refers to an eager learning, without preconceptions....it is something to strive for.

I don't study anymore, but have studied Sietei-Gata Iaido and Eishin-Ryu Iaido in the past. My father teaches and has been studying both for 18 years and holds nidan rank.
