I'm new to the forum and custom knife world. I own an assortment of production knives. Benchmade, Sog, Cold Steel, Microtech, Extreme Ratio. Sadly I'm new to the custom world and am slightly ashamed at the money I've spent on production knives. Luckily as I'm a 12 yr active duty vet many of my knives have been unit issue. I've also been blessed to have worked in the special operations communities for someyears before incurring some serious injuries. I'm currently looking to find a custom tough as nails and mean as a starving grizzly boot knife. Nothing I purchase goes on a shelf. I put it to the test. I'm also looking for a good neck knife as I've good through plenty and I've never found the right one. If you think you can help please pm or post up. I've been searching the forums and this board is awesome and I look forward to one day be a contributing member. Again I'm enlisted military so I have a budget but if you think you can help hit me up. Thanks and hope all are having a great weekend.

Sean,
Thanks for serving. We owe our freedom to you and people like you. Sorry for the injuries you've received.

There are many fine knifemakers here and most all use quality materials and trusted/proven heat treatment methods to create a tough knife. Most all custom knives will perform as you ask. Do you have a price point or two and some specifics such as stainless, carbon, handle materials like natural or synthetic?

thanks for the response brother, im looking for either something around $200 or something i can make payments on until completed. im very very new to the world of custom knives. i just shake my head at the thought of the money ive dropped on production blades. as far as material something that keeps a good edge and isnt flashy so something coated if stainless. ive heard pros and cons on carbon. ive used n690 and seki blades and love them. and the handle isnt as important to me as long as it also isnt flashy. i like rough and rugged.

Jonathan McNeese is a veteran and makes a nice neck knife/survival package. I bought one from him and it is a tough and razor sharp blade. He makes other knives a well so I would give him a look and email him some details...his stuff is awesome and you can't go wrong.

This sounds very promising.
