Both to knifemaking and this forum :D

I didn't see a separate section for newbies, but thought I'd say hello.

So I am just starting out, finished my first one recently (with some guidance from my Pop whos been a knifemaker for 35 years)
But I did this mostly myself where he bailed me out of a few mistakes. I keep telling him no more help on the next one though... :)

I'd also like to share the Scagel I made before this (but I don't like to take credit for since he gave me A LOT of help and did the bevels entirely)
But it came out beautifully and hopefully I can make one again totally on my own.

Anyway looking forward to browsing around the site and sharing my work!
I was thinking of sharing some of the step by step pictures as I find it almost just as fun to document the process, though im considering making a youtube video. There are a bunch of makers posting videos, but I really enjoy watching the process.

P.S. yes I just ordered my own logo so I don't steal his anymore...lol

You're doing nice work but don't be so quick to turn down help. Many makers would love to have an experienced knifemaker a phone call away. I look forward to your future posts.

looking good. if those are your first knives you have much potential ! welcome to the forum.

thanks so much! I just realized the scagel is an earlier picture before I got all the compound off the crown stag; I promise its clean now :P

also good advice; just I wont learn if I get bailed out of my mistakes. Though I didn't do the Scagel bevels, I was pretty proud of the work i did on the brass guard and handle area. \

Also I did the hollow grind by myself on the green knife. it was by hand, no jig. Though I might actually try making a bevel jig.

Will post more when they come up!
