Hi folks,
Can anyone ID this more or less new old stock single bevel knife I picked up at my local flea market? Overall it reminds me of Ontario Knife Co., but no markings except the remains of a paper label.
Thanks!

No blade or scale markings, and the "guard" eliminate (factory) Ontario Knife Old Hickory and Russell Green River.
It is possible someone removed the blade stamp, replaced or flipped over the original scales, and added a "guard" to an Old Hickory or Russell Green River blade of course.
Hard to say who made the blade. A lot of companies have made that style "butcher's knife" (without the funky "guard" Who needs a guard on a "kitchen" knife, anyway?)
I don't recall ever seeing that style knife with a guard before. The guard looks like an afterthought, to me, I don't recall seeing one like it before, either.

I've seen a few of that sort of guard, and lots of companies made that sort of knife. I don't know how many companies made them without marking them, of course.
I would guess that the rough-and-ready finger guards happened between "If you lose too many fingers you're fired" and molded plastic finger guards.

how else would we get guys with cool nick names like "three fingers brown"

It is a commercial butcher knife intended for a meat processing plant. Those kinds of guards were common since they helped to reduce injuries.

I have one that was gifted to me in the late 70s early 80s. It came from a local packing/processing plant, Before I re-handled it it had the same guard/handle as the OP shows. I rarely used it because of the crude finishing on the handle and guard...much better now. The 8" blade is marked 'Russel Green River Works'. HTH

NIce one.
Nope.
It's a Russell green river commercial butcher.
They still use this type of guard on the model 6010.
That yellow sticker on the handle was common with their knives as well.
I didn't know they were still making commercial butchers.
