Hi Everyone - I'm not new to Bladforums but this is my first post on SwissBianco.

Here is the only SAK I have ever owned. It is at least 35 years old I think and possibly older than that. It is a drawer queen now but I carried it all over the world for years - in Vietnam, Europe, up and down mountains and camping. Eventually it will probably go to a grandkid. Can anyone tell me anything about it - like is it now a collectible or just an old knife? (If collectible then I might defer handing it down for a few more years.)

On one side of the larger blade, it says "VICTORINOX SWITZERLAND STAINLESS" and on the other side "VICTORIA OFFICIER SUISSE". Not shown in the picture but still present are a plastic toothpick and tweezers. The knife does not have a corkscrew.

Thanks for any info anyone may have on this old friend!

That's a nice old Climber you got there. It's a very nice and popular model, and the vintage features (like squared Phillips and clip-point small blade) add to its charm. It's not really a collectible, but you may want to hold onto it for some time until the grandkid is old enough to show this SAK the respect and care it deserves.

Thank you! Could you just clarify what you meant by "climber"? Not being a real SAK guy that term is lost on me...sorry...

Doh! That was stupid of me... of course it's a Super Tinker and not a Climber (Phillips vs. Corkscrew). It definitely looks like a 91mm rather than 84mm.

Thank you everyone - I have learned a lot in just a few days. For example about layers, and lengths and manufacturers etc. My old knife is in fact 84mm iin length when closed. (Actually one thing I do not know is whether the official length measurement should be the length of the whole knife when closed or the length of the large blade itself - which obviously would be close either way.) And now I also learned about the online catalog SAKWIKI and with your help and its help I now think the knife is a "Salesman". Then I actually remembered that in a box full of knives in the basement I had another small SAK which I found and determined it to be a 58mm classic, color Citrine, and it is now on my keyring.
