New guy. Pics of my Spydercos (Para-Military 2 coming this week)

Hey all,

Been lurking this forum for a little while and figured I'd join.
I've recently become a Spyderco "convert" of sorts. Ever since I got my first Manix 2 I have become a total fan. They are my absolute favorite, and the couple of Benchmades I have are getting neglected because of it :p

Anyways, here is my modest collection. However, I ordered a digi-cam/satin PM2 this week. It was $107 shipped. Some ma' and pop shop online mislabeled it (new without box) as a Military. Needless to say I hopped on it instantly, lol. Should be here tomorrow or Friday.

But anyways, it's good to be on here. I look forward to soaking in the knowledge and the knife porn.

My next addition will probably be a ZDP-189 Endura, then I swear I won't get any more Spydies...This year...maybe ;)

Where did you find a PM 2 for $107 ? They're hard to find now and have been for a while.
 
Of all the Spydercos that I own/owned I have never had a Manix. Starting to think I'm missing out on something.

Lol, I know! I was looking all over and the cheapest I could find was around $170 for the brown S35VN version. I was going to take the plunge, despite being reluctant about the steel, but then I saw this. It was on Ebay and it literally had JUST posted (I have been lurking Ebay for about 2 weeks now, searching for Para-Military 2's a couple times a day). At first I saw the ad and it said "Spyderco Military Model G-10 Plain Edge Knife, Camo", but I thought to myself...."hmmmm, that blade looks kinda short, and that looks like a compression lock from the thumbnail". I then read the description and how it was "New in plastic, with literature, but no box" I realized they had mistakenly labeled it as a Military. I didn't ask questions, I just ordered it after making sure it was in fact the item that was pictured.

Here she is. I am excited to see what all the rage about the PM2 is. Something tells me I will love it.

At $107 shipped I think I got a steal in this market, and it's even a decent price by old standards.

I highly recommend them. They are built like a brick s-house. The Manix 2 XL feels surprisingly balanced and light for how gargantuan it is. I just love that massive leaf blade.

Anyways, if you get the ZDP Dragonfly, do a blade swap with your G-10 Dragonfly and then you'll have a G-10 ZDP Dragonfly along with a BRG VG-10 Dragonfly.

The Para 2 is a great knife and I'm sure you'll love it. I've owned a few and loved them all. Still have one.

What's your Spydergrail?

Yea, I've considered the ZDP switcheroo.

As for my "grail", I'm not sure. I love the ones I got. A blue Manix would be nice, but no way I am paying for one. As of right now I just want something in ZDP and Super Blue just for some variety.
Ideally I've like the Stretch to be available with G10 scales, despite not being a huge back-lock fan. G10 and ZDP, mmmmmmmmmm.
Rock Lobsters have a nice look to them too, but they are a bit pricey now. We shall see. I am open to all the Spydies.
 
Sense where talking spyder grails......mine are the original micarta calypso and plain edge ss native......
 
The Stretch is a must for a Spydie nut imo. The carbon fiber ZDP Stretch is a dream knife for me. There is the Super Blue version coming out later this year. The Chokwe is another one I highly recommend to everybody. It is being discontinued and on sale at most places if they still have them in stock.

Chokwe, not the stock clip. It is a bigger knife, and so so awesome. Only Spydie I ever bought two of.

$107 is a steal, I just got mine for $109...with box. It's one smooth blade...I love so much I got the JG scale...

Lol seriously. With outlandish ammo prices (when it's even available, that is) I have slowed down on my shooting (guns being my primary hobby) and really got into knives. It's nice, you don't have to feed them :)

Haha, I love how we both had the same thing happen to us! I've always loved knives but didn't get deeper into it until recently with ammunition becoming prohibitively expensive (as you mentioned if you can even find it) and guns impossible to find available.
