Hey All,,,,
Im a newbie here and bought my first little forge. I have a vise, welding stuff, strong back, weak mind and alot of humility. I want to make my first blade--I know I need an anvil--Im trying to get one--PLEASE anyone help--advise is WELCOME---
Plus--Im a Middle School Science teacher and would like to get good enough to maybe teach some students--PLEASE help/advise--If there is anyone living in South GA and willing to give paid lessons--please let me know---THANKS

First - fill out your profile. It will tell us where you live so someone near you could offer some personal help.

Second, and anvil can be expensive, and you may still get something that isn't what you need. Atlas Tools makes some great and affordable knifemaking anvils, which I highly recommend. - http://www.atlasknife.com/product/atlas-anvil/

It is wiser to start with stock reduction, but if you want to learn how to forge and then learn how to make a knife at that same time, that is OK with me. It will just double the learning curve and number of errors that can happen.

I'm also fairly new to blacksmithing and just finished getting the major pieces of my home forge in place. I went with an Alec anvil by Atlas Knife and Tool. They have several anvils that are geared towards knifemakers and are a decent price. Very happy with my purchase so far!
