Hi guys, I'm a new guy here, but not new to SWKs. I have a couple questions though. How do you tell the difference in cellidor and nylon handle scales? Also, is there anywhere a person can buy replacement scales? I've carryed a Tinker for about 15 years and the scales are chipped and poping off. Thanks

Welcome to Bladeforums!

In general the cellidor scales are smooth-shiny,the nylon ones are more textured and have more of a matte finish, and the knives with nylon scales have a painted shield instead of the imbeded one found on the cellidor models.

As for the replacement scales,I would try sosakonline.com,try the felinevet link and the rotokid link.

The scales fell off my old Wenger, and I lost them. I sent the knife to Wenger, and they replaced it with an equivalent newer version. Cost was $3.00. Surely Victorinox can match that kind of customer service.

I'm sure Vic would replace them. Another difference between cellidor and the nylon scales is color. The nylon scales are more of a maroon color whereas cellidor is "blood red" personally I MUCH prefer cellidor, it's a lot nicer looking.
