Hello everyone,
new on the "various" forums and have a quick question.....
I just received my RW and love it....now I am looking for an axe / hatchet. Does SWKW offer / or have they made any axes other than the ratchet ??? If so does anyone have some pics they could share or opinions on their axes performance.
Thanks for your time,

Mike

Hi Tazz,

Welcome to the Rat forum!

There was a recent pre-order offering for the Crash Axe. Ordering has been closed for this blade, but they haven't been shipped out yet. Once they do, I'd keep an eye to the secondary market for one. :D

Here's a couple pics...

Hope this helps.

I think some will be available at ratknives.com after the preordered ones ship, at the regular price. (preorder was a special price)

They will undoubtedly sell like hotcakes!

Seeing this photo reminds me of how badly I wanted to smash the prototype through the Rat table at Blade. Every time I picked that sucker up a little devil appeared on my shoulder and told me to plunge the Crash Rat tail first into the counter. It was all I could do to resist the temptation.

By the way, welcome aboard Mike!

When are you going back Mike?

I will be headed back to Afghanistan on the 6th of Oct and am supposed to return to Canada before X-mas. Around the 21st of Dec is what I am hearing right now.

Damn when was the pre-order for these axes ??? Musta been over sea's still.....SOB....lol :grumpy:
Any chance at swinging a new rat lover a deal ??:D :p LOL

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated

Many of us ordered two, just for guys like you.

My experience with S-7 up around 55-58 Rc is that it is mind boggelling. Justin Gingrich and I chopped a car up, then broke some bricks, then worked on some cement curb for a while... His axe got more of the curb, with some rolling of the edge and some flat spots about 1/2mmx3mm, but was still functional for any axe related tasks. Mind you, it wouldn't shave, but mine still would with better than 50% of its edge, and the other half except for maybe 1cm total was still sharp enough to cut your finger if you weren't careful. That 1cm (total, not continuous length) of real dullness was only lightly rolled and/or flattened, and I could have taken it out with a minute with a ceramic rod if I hadn't just left it in Jusin's care while I left on R&R. In all actuality, it just wasn't dull enough to be concerned about. This is some serious impact steel, and mine is just Justin's eye-ball heat treated S-7, not the Swamps proprietary heat treated S-7. So I'm looking forward to to this axe for sure.

I pre-ordered one at the $168 price and can't wait to get it and play with it. My only regret is that I didn't order 2 or 3. These things will be selling for $400 on eBay within days of being shipped.

Well I ordered just one, and I intend to use it.

I'm not sure what I think of people buying knives with the intention of making money on them later on.
It's more fun to buy and use, but to each his own.
Then again, I have bought pre-owned knives, so I guess I support the system anyway.
Here I go confusing myself again.
I'll just conclude that I don't care what anyone else does :D

PS what does that word 'regret' mean?
