Hello everybody,

I'm a long time listener...first time caller. There certainly seems to be a lot of great "knife knowledge" on this forum. I've really enjoyed reading all the reviews and debates on past posts...great stuff.

I have a quick question: Does anyone have any experience with ENTREK USA KNIVES? I've been considering buying the 'Ranger Model" (440 steel, full tang, 9 inch doulble blade). The knife will be used for light camping chores, and quick draws in front of the bathroom mirror. :D

Thanks in advance.

PS. I've noticed that there is also another "Bowieman" on this forum. Please take note that mine has a space inbetween the two words (Bowie man).

I have no experience with this brand of knife, but from what I've read, they seem like decent quality. If it were me, I would look at Scrapyard Knives, RATs, BK&T, and Ranger Knives first.

Agreed! The Becker line by Camillus are some of the roughest, thickest outdoor fixed blades for your money! The Companion model is an excellent multi purpose camp knife, I've split wood with it, hammered tent stakes with the butt and even used it as a shovel. Entrek knives, back to the subject, are pretty high quality but I think there are plenty of other manufacturers that can compete with thier quality for less money.

Hey Bowie man...

I've handled Alot of Entreks in my time..
I've seen some really bad ones,, and some really good ones as far as fit and finish are concerned..

Can't comment on mileage though as they aren't mine and only in for a sheath job..
The last one I had in the shop a couple of months ago was a sub hilt fighter,, and fit and finish was really good,, a Great design, and for sure a knife I would consider buying...

Hope that helps in some way..

I have an entrek jag that is a beauty. Very nice feel, fit and finish. If I had to do over I would have got a different model, the jag is a tanto style. I am looking at something now along the lines of the scrap yap or ranger or maybe a becker. Good luck with your purchase.
