Hello Gents, (and Ladies?),
Thought I'd say a first hello to the forum at long last. I was finally pushed to join the forum here after seeing (too late) the 2011 forum knife and vowing to not miss another, the 2012 looks to be shaping up nicely! I've come full circle to traditional knives after many years, having been no such thing as a tactical folder when I was a kid, a traditional folder was all I had (in the stone age) mostly boy scout knives, but I do remember a Barlow in the mix. Anyway, after browsing the forum, I discovered many new names in modern trads and thought I'd take a chance on an affordable GEC just to check out the state of these moderns. I went with an "EDC" #85 Easy Open Jack in ebony and have since fallen in love with this knife/pattern, and I get heart sick every time I miss a 2011 BF knife when they come up for sale ( 3 in the last week!). I've seen threads lately of others switching over to traditionals and it's struck a similar chord with me. I've picked up a few modern tacticals over the intervening years, and while they are 'cool', for the most part, they're over kill for what my every day needs truly are. Apart from not needlessly scaring people in the office while opening a hermetically sealed bag of coffee beans, the warmth of natural scales, the slimness of blade and carry, and just the plain aesthetics of my traditional folders has made a true convert of me. And as a final note for now, my first interactions on the board through the "Exchange" (thanks Geode!) have been so positive I only have good things to look forward to. Thanks Guys!

Welcome, Jim. It's a pleasure to have you here. That sure is a good looking knife!

Welcome to the coolest subforum on the whole planet.

Kind regards
Andi

Welcome to the Living Room section of BF. Bare feet are allowed. Coarse language not. Pictures are encouraged along with lots of OOO's and AHHH's of admiration.

If you insert the IMG code into your post, you can show the pics right in your post. Or you can use the picture posting tool on the toolbar along with the web address of the picture.

Thanks for the welcome fellas. Frank, I've tried in vain to 'insert' my pic directly to the post to no avail.
after the url didn't work : (

Very good start that knife. A lifetime isn't long enough to cover all Traditionals, that's another beauty of them. Welcome to where knife values and heritage reside.

Greetings, Will

Go to your picture in Flicker
Then above each pic and on the center left is Share...click on it
Then...Click on Grab the HTML/BBC Code
You will see some code in a box
Highlight the dot under it that says BBCode
Copy all the code in the box now and paste in Quick Reply using the insert image button
delete superfluous code

Hi there Jim, Traditionals is an awesome place to hang out in and learn, and to appreciate some great knives and discussions.
Hope to see you around here a bit!

I'm glad Gevonovich knew how do to that. I use Photobucket and find it much less confusing. They give you the IMG code to copy and paste.

Anywho, Welcome!

Hello!
Another new member here who went from a traditional as a kid, to SAK's, to some modern folders, and then I found this forum. My wallet hasn't been the same since :D

Hi, and welcome to the back porch of BF.
Others, in the rooms inside, or in the front side of the place, seem to worry about lots of things...but around here, we don't worry that much. We just sit and chat and share. So what you will find here is some quiet, a smile, a hand, a rocking chair if you want to sit, a glass full of your favourite drink, and quite a bunch of pretty knives.
That's what I found here...and that's why I'm still here. You're welcome to do the same.

Fausto

A belated welcome, Jim! Glad to have you here.

Sucsess!! Thanks JAB and Gevonovich. I would have NEVER figured that out. Happier still today, I seem to have that elusive 2011 forum knife inbound from member "thawk". Thanks again for the warmest welcome ever. Fausto, your words are poetry, and exactly the images that I had in my head!
