Hey I'm new to knifes so I need help on looking for one . Looking for a folding knife for protection and all around a everyday carry knife . I want something very strong and sharp . Please help price range is $40 to $200 thanks

Well brother you gotta narrow it down a little more that that. There is way too many options in that price range. What blade size/handle length do you want does the lock up style matter. You want a flipper or not. Give a little more detail.

Very few people use a knife for protection (unless you have specialized training), so you may want to think about that one. Otherwise, agree with Topcatpt that we need details to help you out. Are you in high school, an office worker, and what style appeals to you?

I like the style of spyderco . No I'm 42 but I carry my springfield everyday but just looking for a everyday carry . Not sure size u tell me . Ok $80 $125

Do you like larger knives? If so the Military or the brown G10 Calypso Sprint Run would be two good choices. You could keep an eye on the knife exchange here for a Military. I got mine for under $100. Be sure to check your local laws for legal blade length.

Thanx for the personal info; it helps. My only Spydie is a Caly3 with 3" blade. Perfect knife. Para 2's are the hot knife, so they are hard to find, but come up on the sales forum pretty often for 140 - 200 or more (and that is used).

As Squashfan says, blade length is key, both for legal and preference reasons. Have a blade length in mind and tell us; it will help point you to the best knife for the money.

For "tough" and edc where "defense" is a concern, I like the Cold Steel Recon 1. Clip point blade for me. Or Spear point.

If you intend on doing prying etc with it, I would go for the tanto point.

These are at the bottom end of your budget.

Cold Steel American Lawman is another strong folder from them. Their Voyager series are lighter and still strong. They have a full height grind, which makes them better slicers. they are well below your budget.

Spyderco Szabo folder sounds like it'll fit your criteria. If you'll just be doing cutting and stabbing then go with a Microtech Ultratech. If all else fails, check out Emerson's.
