Hello all of Bladeforums. I'm kind of new so I don't know that much about knives. But I love them, there just so useful. Well any way my question is which knife is better the benchmade 556 mini-griptilian, or the benchmade 530. Tell me why you think this knife is better and why you don't like the other knife. I'm also open to other knives within a price-range of these knives. Thanks to anyone who replies.:D

Of the two I would suggest the 556 mini grip. I love the Griptilian line, they are awesome for the price and an excellent EDC knife. I dont think they can be beat for the price.

The mini-griptilian for sure. I have a full sized 551S griptilian and I love it. The mini grip is really no different. The mini-griptilians blade is a tad bit smaller and shorter overall. The 530's blade is a tiny bit thinner and the knife is lighter. Not very noticeable differences. The blade shape is what you want to look at between these two knives. What are you going to use it for? I'd recommend a Benchmade Griptilian 551 (if you like thumb studs, 550 if you like the hole). It's a full sized, full gripped knife. The min-grip is small and if you have big hands may be uncomfortable for extended use. The griptilians are the smoothest knives i've owned and i own a lot of knives! 154cm is also a very good steel.

If you can afford to spend closer to 100$, then I would either go for a Spyderco Sage or a Paramilitary D2 sprint run, there are no better knives than these two in that price range.
If you cannot afford to spend that much, then definitely the Griptilian.

I don't really think either one is "better" than the other. Both knives are very well made of quality materials and either one would serve you well.

Personally, I would pick the 556. I think the blade shape is a better choice for EDC and the handle a bit more comfortable in the hand. The 530 is a great choice if you are looking for an ultra-light folder, but I don't care so much for spear point blades for most EDC uses, and the handle isn't as comfortable for me.

Just my 2¢ ;)

For 3" blade length I believe the best deal is Spyderco Delica ZDP-189 at around $75.

To the OP: the true answer from a knife nut would be to get both. :D

Definitely the Grip. Proven knife, proven comfort and a great EDC. What is not to like?

+1 on the Delica, but you can't really go wrong with the Benchmades either.
