Hi everyone, I'm Steve.
Waiting for my new BK2 to arrive and I'm hoping I made the right choice. I was looking for a serious camp knife and the BK2 is obviously that, but I found out about the 16 after placing my order. Now, I can't help feeling that the smaller brother would've been the better way to go. Some background: I've got my small folders and a few Leatherman tools, but I wanted a fixed blade for camping. At first I was looking into the classic USMC Kabar, soon determined that wasn't what I was looking for, and then was turned onto the BK2 and ESEE 5, the Gerber LMF II was also in the running. Found a great deal on the 2 from an Arfcom member, so that did it. I was sold.

Past couple of days I've discovered you guys, modding your knives and sheaths, and really using your gear. Love it. I'm certain I'll end up with a leather sheath for the 2, if I keep it, that is. If it really does seem too damned big, I can either sell it and pick up a 16... or (and I have a feeling this will be a popular option), keep it for the man-size tasks it'll excel at and pick up a 16 anyway, when I can afford it.

Definitely glad I found this forum, thanks guys. Open to advice and I'll be sure to post pictures when beastly 2 arrives.

Should have looked at Esee 3 or 4. And Esee has the best warranty on the planet. Guaranteed FOREVER. NO conditions. You break it, even INTENTIONALLY, and they will send you a new one. FOREVER. No questions asked.
3 and 4 are perfect camp knives and will work as serious survival knives in a pinch. The biggest problem you would have had would be deciding which would be best. In our camps, I carry the 3 and my son carries the 4. Can't miss with either.

I wonder if the BK2 ever worked out for him. Thread is 4 months old... :d

I wonder how we missed this one...come back if your still with us Chief Brody.
