Hello all, I'm new to the forum and thought I'd open up with something a bit odd but kinda cool if you like old stuff that's been brought back from the grave.
I wish I had some pictures of this thing before I started but here's the back story...It belonged to my great grandfather from his time in WW2. At some point, the knife must have gotten damaged. When I received it, it had crudely fitted, plexiglass scales. No knuckle guard, no sheath, and the blade had been ground down to a point that the blood grooves are gone. I haven't totally finished it but couldn't to get pictures up.
What I've done is found and welded a reproduction knuckle guard. I cut the loop off the guard and rounded it off because it didn't look right with the shortened blade. Fitted scales made from a mystery wood. then mirror polished everything from the butt to the sides of the guard. Sorry for the links instead of pictures...When I said I was new to the forum I meant i was new to forums in general :P
