New guy here. Thanks in advance. Back in the early Eighties I purchased four fixed bladed knive by Bill Herndon. They each have inlays of various natures. I understand he has retired and was wondering is there some way to get these knives appraised? I can post pictures when the wife returns with the camera. Just looking for some ballpark figures. thank you for your time.

^ Are you just looking for values or fishing for buyers?
Not trying to be a wise ass, but generally when someone's first post here is asking for values, their motive is trying to sell knives, which is not allowed on this sub-forum.
If not, welcome to blade forums.

No, not fishing. These knives have been sitting for 25 years or more and are still in great shape. I vaugely remember what i payed, but was curious if knives appreciate the older they get or just stay the same. I understand that there is no selling here. If I were to choose to sell I will do so properly.

Hi Matt,

Given the age of the knives, the materials used and the fact that Bill has been retired for some time.

The knives will at best be worth what you paid for them...probably 25% less.

Collectors who started 10 - 15 years probably have never seen a Heron in person.

Are any of the blued? Bill loved doing those Blued Guardless fighters. I bought several of those in the late 80's.

Les -- Heron? or Herndon? I have seen a few and know Bill but always thought he was on the high end and that there were other options for the same $. Unless it is a real exciting knife, you would be right in the value estimate for sure but then you generally are.
