HELLO EVERYONE!!I got a question,i have a Cold steel trailmaster bowie knife, older one made in California,i want to rehandle it,saw oneTeksec did back in 09,very nice, lead me to someone or advice on doing it myself.THANK YOU!!ALL!

Your best bet is to do a search on old threads here, there is a ton of information. Rather than having it distilled for you, go on a safari, it might lead you into a completely different material or technique that you hadn't considered before. But my 2 cents on modding your blades is this: start on something you wouldn't mind replacing. The first one you do is going to look a bit rough.....I am good enough with hand and power tools to remodel my house, but my first Becker re-handle had a bit of an "oops" due to ordering Corby rivets that were a bit too long and going for it anyways. Gather a range of materials, build the skillset, and THEN get going on the knife you like.

My advice is to quit now unless unless you want to get infected with B.A.D.! Blade Addictive Disorder or B.A.D. is incurable once you're infected. Infections typically occur during the initial knife modification phase but quickly progress to the full on handmade craze. You will find that you have countless metals and raw materials arriving via USPS, UPS and FEDEX. You know it's fully developed when you throw your wife's car from the garage to accept ground freight delivery of your machine tools. God forbid you don't have a garage and your neighbors see you in sub zero weather feeding your forging habit. What are you going to tell the shrink to justify that type of looney behavior? It the end you will be forced to make shanks in prison because you can't control your addiction. You're probably doomed already and just don't know it.

Good luck in your new hobby!:D:p:cool::thumbsup:

Thank's everyone for your replys,as an insight I've worked in the tool steel industry for the last 35yrs.,got a pretty nice shop at home just never got into knife making, maybe I should!Looking forward to being led down the knife addition road!

Welcome! I agree with searching, as there are some great mod threads with a lot of knowledge in them.

But people are forgetting one very essential thing here, and that is, post pics when you're done! :D
