New Guy

More important, HOW did you get THREE of them past us without us noticing? ;) :D Can't remember any DOTD ( Uncle Bill's Deal Of The Day ) getting scarfed up like that. You musta ordered off the website.

Anyway, welcome aboard, and we'll be keeping an eye on you to make sure you don't pull any shennanigans like that again, at least without us noticing. ;)

Whatever happened to the Great White Sharks on the forum going into a feeding frenzy? Surely all of them can't be broke or under threat of unspeakable retribution(s) from SWMBO ( She Who Must Be Obeyed - aka wife or significant other ) can they?

ok, first things first, i got a 15in AK, a Kumar Kobra, and the army model. i got all from the website during a span of 3 days. its addictive, but then again im not the first to say this:cool: .
Bill Martino probably knows me as the guy who kept pestering him about where my order was:grumpy:
im originaly from switzerland and now i live in montana when im not in school, where i was a Mountain Guide for a number of yrs. all in all, ive always loved knives, especialy khukuris and have a fairly large number at home. some good old ones, and some just plain junk from when i didnt know better.

hope all is well.

Keep them.

I recently bought a couple of {India} junk blades so I'd have:

#1 something to show people so they can understand the difference between good and bad.

#2 reference items from the bottom of the rung.
I also have a $25 Windlass/AtlantaCutlery khuk.
Not a bad item, usable, but not even close to Birgorkha quality.
It helps to evaluate a blade you find elsewhere if you have
personally handled several levels of workmanship/quality.

#3 khuk shaped steel to experiment on without endangering my good ones.
Finishes, hardening, and anything else that comes to mind.

Welcome.

the only problem is its so dam hard to hide 3 khukuris in a small barraks cell.

Hope you enjoy the Khuks. I sure have a good time with mine. Sounds like you know what you are doing with a khuk.:)

gtg study. test tomorw.

HELP:barf:

Welcome Padi:) Sounds like 3 good choices to me! I think the BAS and the 15"AK will be somewhat similiar, but that's not a bad thing.

Good luck on the test.

Hi Padi. Can you get a lockable storage box/ why do you hide your khuks?

Dean, I saw a Khukuri in the Budk catalog for like 16 bucks or so. Genuine Gurka, they said. Seems I've seen them in Cheaper Than Dirt and some others too. (Anyone know how I got on the BudK mailing list? They seem to specialize in cheap...er uhh..inexpensive.)

What is your experience with these cheap India made models? If you hit a dry limb of wood with one what happens to the blade and what happens to the wood? Do the handles stay on?

First, let me thank all of you for ur warm welcomes, I really appreciate that.

Second, I just ordered 2 new knives from HI. Thought I would let u all know so I am not accused of sneakiness again..

Munk, I have a Khuk I purchased in Dubai, UAE. When I got back to the US I saw it in a cheaper than dirt catalogue. It was priced higher than what I got it for btw. Anyways, I bought it as a wall decoration, because even to my clueless self at the time it seemed pretty fragile. The handle is weak and uncomfortable, and with like most others, the sheath is a disaster.

That’s just my experience.

Hope all is well in ur worlds.
Padi:p

I'm thinking the only use for cheap knives is as a murder weapon. Leave one in every corpse. Most murderers don't carry fine steel, do they? Or care if it can't keep an edge?

"BudK, your source for trailer trash murder weapons."

Back in the days when my primary transportation was bicycle I found a lot of stuff on the asphalt most people miss. Tools, garbage, coins...found a blade wrapped in electric tape and wondered what it would say if it could talk.

I was stranded outside of Gorman Calif and walked some on the shoulder of the freeway a year ago. There was a blade without a handle lying in the garbage on the side. I wonder if gang bangers take the handles off for stealth or something?
