Hi all! I found this forum last night, and needless to say, spent way too much time reading last night. A little background on myself, I'm just getting into Kershaw knives. I've never had a decent knife (Gerber came closest). I had received a gift certificate for cabelas and had a hard time deciding what to get, but finally choose to get a knife. I'm not sure how I choose, but I ordered the basic Leek (it'll be arriving tomorrow). Since placing the order, I researched the Kershaw brand and have found all the great comments and reviews on them. Needless to say, I can't wait to get mine in my hands.

While trolling last night through here, I'm amazed to find Kershaw employees posting so openly here. I think I'll be getting more Kershaw's besides my basic Leek in the future. I'm already drolling over other models. It always makes me happy to know that I have a product whose company cares about the customer instead of being driven by making the biggest buck (like how they switched away from 440 blades and how Thomas stated in one post that Kershaw has a policy that knives can only be there two days for repair issues). I will be proud to carry my Kershaw (on and off duty).

On a side note, I'm also very impressed with all of the knife giveaways here, but just to make it clear, I didn't join the forum for the giveaways. I didn't even know about them until after I joined. I just joined to learn more about Kershaw knives.

Welcome Boss! We're glad you're here. You made a very sound choice with the Leek and Kershaw brand. The Leek is definately one of the more popular models. There are also two other knives of the same line that are smaller than the Leek (Chive and Scallion) and one size bigger coming out in the coming months (Shallot). Plus the Leek comes in many different styles including S30V blades and a tanto version.
I wish I could tell you otherwise, but I'm afraid that you have begun an addiction that will keep you awake at night and your wallet empty. :)

Welcome Boss ! Congrats on the new Leek, it will be the first of many I predict, lol

Kershaw makes a great product, and like you say, they care about thier customer.

I started ut with a Storm II, Now I have around 18 different models, and even the wife totes a Kershaw !

Welcome Boss, you are going to love the Leek. It was the Leek that got me hooked on Kershaw. The 1660BG to be specific. I now own 4 Leeks and will be ording the 1660DAM as soon as they arrive in the stores. I own 12 Kershaws and love each and every one of them. Fortunatly they are coming out with some really great new knives like the Tyrade, NRG and RAM. So my collection is just going to grow and grow. Kershaw has the best support I have seen yet. So welcome to the club, enjoy your stay and hide your wallet, cause it can empty fast.

Now you have the disease!!
You will become a Kershaholic in no time.

Which I find to be quite fun.

Welcome to the forums.

BossMaverick,

Welcome to BladeForums, and to the Kershaw forums! You'll find some really GREAT folks here. I'm fairly new to the Kershaw forums myself, but have been here at BladeForums for a few years now. I have to say that the guys here at the Kershaw forums have made me feel very welcome, and there is a wealth of knowledge here to tap into...

I really wish I took the advice I'm about to give you when I first started checking out these forums. . .

Leave now and don't look back. You are entering a world of financial insolvency and obsession

All kidding aside, welcome to the forums. I'm sure you'll love the Leek, I sure do love mine :D

I just got my first leek, with scales by Santa Fe Stoneworks. It's gorgeous, and a heck of a solid knife to boot.

Great place to start, those Kershaws. They won't let you down. Stay on the forum and you'll be in for a wealth of information on which knives don't suck.

welcome also. you will find that the giveaways are a great way to get knives. especially if you are a good guesser. i say that cause none of us seem to be able to guess the answer and we drive poor Thomas crazy(ier :D). get in as many as you can. you'll have fun

Thanks everyone for the kind welcomes. I haven't been this excited for the UPS guy to arrive in a loonnnnnggggg time....

Leave now and don't look back. You are entering a world of financial insolvency and obsession
:D

Don't ever start collecting poker chips. Knives are now my CHEAP hobby! I've spent about $5000 on poker chips just since April! At least I have won some money back with them...

Welcome Boss. I know what you mean about being excited waiting on the big brown truck. I've met him many times before he could get the door open. :D;)

Well I finally got it. I'm very happy with it. It opens quick, the blade is sharp, it looks good, feels good, and cuts good. I have used it on cardboard, paper, and about 6 dehyderator trays of fruit (apples, strawberrys, peaches, and bananas). It cut all of it without problem. And to top it all off, the wife hasn't started complaining about the constant 'CLICK.....CLICK....CLICK....CLICK.....' of me opening it.

Click.......Click.....Click it never gets old. Ill do it for hours just watching TV. Glad you like your Leek.

As of today.......there's still no cure for the Click...Click...Click syndrome. ;)You have it for life now........so enjoy. :D

The click of constant opening will, undoubtedly, only get worse. You've got all the Speedsafe models and now all of the manual flippers too. I've had my Groove for over 6 months now and still can't stop flipping it all the time around the house. The beneficial side effect is a strong, well conditioned index finger, so it's not all bad.

Welcome to the forums.

My collection is going to grow fast. As most know, I won the NASCAR leek, and then I had a winning bid (thanks to my wife for bumping up my bid when the snipers tried getting it) on a used Blur on ebay for $21. Seems strange that I've never had a good knife and now I will have 3 within 2 weeks.

I must reccomend the Groove. Its my first Kershaw, and i literally couldn't keep my hands off of it for a couple weeks after i got it. the "kick" makes easy to open, and the little jerk in your hand when it locks into place is addictive. That, and I could shave with it...out of the box. Wow.
