I have had several Cold Steel knives and they have all performed well.
I had one of their old first run Carbon V Trailmasters which I sold. I still have one of their Carbon V Laredo's which I think I'll keep.
As to a new handle for your Trailmaster. With a little care and work it would be a simple matter to rehandle it yourself with either wood or Micarta and some epoxy. It would only require basic hand tools (though a belt sander would make the job easier when it comes to final handle shaping, but a rasp will work just as well).
I've been thinking of that but I've never attempted anythink like that before. My woodworking & artistic skills leave a lot to be desired. More of a hammer & chainsaw skillset is what I have.
