Not sure if this is the right place for this, but it is a bit of tinkering and embellishing.
I bought a KHHI khukuri a while back and never liked the foam grip that they put on the knife. Initially I just cut off the foam and took a wood rasp and shaped the handle to something that felt right, but I still couldn't get the grip that I wanted for a hard use, big heavy knife. Well last night I decided to leather wrap the handle and this is what I ended up with.

The leather dye didn't take too well but now it feels like a knife I can swing with confidence and comfort. My hand locks in perfectly between the two turks head knots and to my eye looks good too. Tonight I am giving the leather a satin finish to help lock everything in place even though it is all glued down. Want to spend some time doing something that seems like it will never end, try putting contact cement on the back side of some leather lacing, about a 4 feet of it and not let it touch back on itself.
