New Handle for SRK?

A while back I got a new Cold Steel SRK. After some rough and tough abuse the handle looked pretty bad, so I cut it off, hoping to cheaply replace it. Interestingly the guard is rubber too, and for numerous reasons it would be very difficult to make my own handle. So now I have an SRK with a skinny little tapered tang on it and no handle. Does anyone know if Cold Steel "re-handles" their knives? It's just not worth the investment to make a custom handle.

Thanks.

I don't know if CS does that. But depending on how handy/creative you are, you could do it yourself. Most of the work can be done with hand tools. If you wanted to drill holes in the tang, you may want a drillpress.

I'd be interested in seeing what the tang looks like on that SRK.

I stripped the handle off my SRK a few months ago. I plan on attaching a Nickel Silver double hilt and a black Micarta handle. Reprofiling the edge is in the works as well.

Cord wrap it. A quick search should reveal a number of threads concerning the how to's or links. Then coat with epoxy to give a strong, secure handle that is very tough. Cheap as well as you can do it yourself.

You can always try to make some kind of wood handles.

Go to www.kovalknives.com

Check out their selection of gaurds and pommels. Chances are you can find both to fit over the tang of that knife. Might take a little sanding here or some modification there. Also buy some of the leather washers they have.
The gaurd can be held on with Solder or JB Weld, epoxy for the washers, might have to come up with a pin for the pommel, or more JB weld.
Should end up like a Kabar USMC knife.
