New handle on a Grohmann

Here's a few pics from my wife's uncle, he does stone carvings as a hobby and he just replaced the handle panels on his Grohmann boat knife. I think it looks pretty good.

Very nice looking job - how did it affect the balance, assuming it was well balanced at first?

I've only seen the pictures and never handled it yet but I'm assuming the knife is not very balanced anymore.
