If someone has big hands you can just wrap the existing handle in epoxy-soaked twine, leaving the ring exposed. That will increase the girth, which is why it won't work for someone with small or average sized hands.

Now that's an idea that's worth keeping on one's back pocket.

Maybe fill the cracks with CA gel first, for the paranoid (raises hand...).
 
Actually there's Laha used as a resin glue in the hole that contains the rat tail, along with the tail being peened over at the buttcap. It's a strong sound set up. I've replaced a couple handles and I'm no where near as good as the kami's. I don't know how they do such a great job with the tools they have.
I offered to try replacing these two for Yangdu if there are no takers. I'll buy them, fix them up and send them back ready to go to work.
