Hey guys,
I just got a CS Laredo and as with all the reviews the handles are slick. Does anybody know who can make some G-10 scales with more grip? I understand I would have to send the knife and all that, just a thought on some options.

G10 is glass impregnated resin. Any texture you want needs to be cut or carved into it. Think of it as a slab of wood, the surface can be made as smooth or rough as you want to do to it.

Before you send it off anywhere, you can add some texture by roughing it up with some 220 grit emory paper, just don't inhale the dust.

haha.. I just posted this in another section like two minutes ago...

Congrats on getting your Laredo! You've already seen mine I think...

Like CWL said, you can try sanding it first. I think I used 320 grit and also made sure to round off the angular shoulders of the handle while I was at it, then added the engraving for even more grip. Sanding the faux cocobola will turn it a pinkish color, so I finished by re-staining it with regular wood stain, then a couple coats of beezwax.

Turned out kind of a satiny like finish. ...looks better in person than in the photo too, I think!

Gotcha thanks guys, Yeah BRYFRY yours gave me the bug but I didn't want to bother you to much.

No problem buddy, if I can help a fellow knife-nut with anything just let me know. :) I don't mind at all!

...So, are you forming any plans for that knife yet?

Yeah my plan now is to send back my Laredo. The one that I got in the mail had been dropped either before or during shipping and the point was bent 90 degrees to the right. I got it from Amazon so returning it is no problem. I have already ordered another one in the mean time. When it gets here my first idea is a Vinegar Patina, and sandpaper the handle for better grip.

Man, that sucks! Good thing they have a great return policy.

Hopefully you'll get the new one back quickly!
