I've been looking at the new G-10 Rookie, but I'm not a fan of the single liner. Do you think it would be possible to make up some new handle slabs? Any material, really,(ti/ aluminium), so it would be more like the original all-steel version? I love the all-steel version as it so very slim, but I'm always a bit nervous carrying it, as they're pretty hard to come by.
Thanks.

I think so sure. Some aluminum slabs in textured grip would be pretty cool, maybe something similar to what those Chameleon BUSSTR folders came out like only bead blasted for the finish as I do not have the means to anodize aluminum. Could do that in titanium also and that I could anodize too if you wanted it done. It would be pretty light weight too either way but more so in the aluminum I think. Problem is it would be a while before I'd get to it no matter what you picked. If it arrived here today I may get it back to you in four months. Thats the current time frame I'm looking at as of this writing.. Just so you know. Also, the slabs could be cut out just left smooth too of course. We'd have to stay within what the existing hardware will allow so it would be best before deciding thickness to determine what is on there now per side and even that out by dividing it x 2 to figure if both were the same thickness on each side that it still squeeze together and function as it does new. All that would have to be done before ordering the materials. Then once its determined what thickness is needed we'd be able to determine some prices. I've seen one Rookie since they started making them and I don't even remember what for but I don't remember much about them so I'd have to see it.

I believe you know the work order routine from the sticky posts top the page here in my forum on page one. The Read this if you need to mail me work thread covers all that.

Thanks for asking.

I'd be inclined to get one done in aluminum and as plain as possible. I'd put that in the form, though. I'm gonna order a G10 model and send it off to you within the next week.
I'll let you know when it's on its way.
Thanks again:thumbup:

No sweat. Thanks again for stopping by to ask about it.

Do you have any pics to show how this turned out? I have a couple of Rookies that I may like to have modified in the same way. Thanks.

I have not done it to show you that. What models I have done would be here in my forum though.
