Had a chance to put some more time into these today - got the basic shaping done...just need to thin them down a bit more (they started out at 5/8" thick). I've got to find fasteners I like before I go too much further though; then I can finalize the shaping so they fit just so. After that, a bit of sanding, some oil, and I'll be ready to post the glamour shots.

That's looking really nice and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result. A nice set of wood scales is on the list for my BK2

Those are looking good. Are you planning on making them removable or permanent? Makes a difference in the whole finishing process, AFAIK. You'll want to finish the backsides if they're to be removable. Plus, if you epoxy them on, you'll lose the ®PBS....

Planning on keeping them removable...but I'm hoping to find hardware I like better than the original.
Here's what they look like now - just wiped off all the sawdust with a little mineral spirits

Just don't ask about the extra hole in the top piece. I see it, and plan on fixing it.

With the blade between them, they're just a little thicker than I want...but I'll screw up again if I do any more tonight; and that would probably land them in the scrap pile.
Large -Xlarge gloves, depending on the brand/type. I do prefer my knife handles on the thick side, though.
