I've read Busse scales are permanently affixed to the tang and particular to each knife however they will change out scales for you if you send the knife to them.

Firstly, is this true? If so what would be the best way to get the ball rolling, contact someone at Busse? I'm unfamiliar w their customer service and not sure if it's something they'd walk you through.

I've also read they're experiencing a pretty big backlog at the moment and curious if they did offer the service would it be a 6 month situation.

If anyone in the know or affiliated w Busse could point me in the right direction it would be great.

Thanks!

My guess is that such requests might not be accommodated at this time, considering that the Custom Shop is effectively closed to orders...but the best way to find out is to contact the shop and ask.

I'm waiting on the custom shop to open back up myself so I can get some new scales on my Gladius

Unfortunately, no handle replacements until the Busse custom shop opens back up (unless they have failed / broken in some way as part of using the knife in which case it would be a warranty claim).

Yup, what he said ⬆️
I'm in the same boat, I want to switch out the G10 for micarta on my cgfbm

If you want the scales changed anytime soon, you will have to go with an aftermarket knife modder. Nobody knows what the Custom Shop will reopen, and you could imagine a very large pent-up demand for work when they do.

Any tips on getting black micarta hand smoothed? I'm also interested in getting liners removed and torq bolts added. Mu guess is REK? Anybody?

What TommyG said or diy with some coarse wet/dry sandpaper, a drill, and new fasteners. I hand smoothed the micarta on my DTBM and AMS. There are some health & saftey considerations to take, but it's really easy.

Ok thanks for the replies guys. Guess I'll just have to wait it out until the shop catches up with everything. Cheers.
