does anyone sell handles for RC knives? I crashed on my dirt bike and somehow the handles on my RC-3 had 2 huge chunks gone and the part around the guard flattened.

i think this would be an issue where you'd send it back to RAT and they'd refit a new pair on for you.

If you want to final fit them yourself, they'd probably hook you up with a new set. After they get back from SHOT.

Scales are not covered under the warranty, so I'd take it as an excellent opportunity to learn how to make some custom ones for yourself. :)

Or ask one of the custom knife makers to make a custom set for you. I remember reading a few threads on blade and knife forum where custom handles were made for various knives, and they came out looking great. Also more recently one of the RC members made some denim mircata for his Izula which looked cool, give it a try, could be fun!

You could always order a sheet of micarta and make some. Shouldn't be too hard to pull off. You'd need a saw/blade and a drill/awl and a pencil or other writing utensil to trace the outline of the handle.

And don't forget masks. You do not want to breathe Micarta dust. Could harm your lungs.

how bad are the chunks? can you toss up some pics? I'm trying to figure how big a wipeout would be to hurt a 3.

Really?

I was under the impression that the only things not covered were rust and normal wear and tear (coating wear and the like..).

Last time I checked that was the case. It's next to impossible to damage the scales beyond what would be considered cosmetic damage, and if there was an actual defect of the scale it would be covered, I'm sure, but the topic has come up before and that's the official response I remember. :o
