new harpy question

hi all- i just bought a new g10 harpy at a knife show this weekend and i am just fascinated by the design! it just fits my hand perfectly and the lock-up is absolutely solid with no play at all. i don't know how much use it would be as a daily carry with it's blade design- but it sure is cool!

one question: how can i get it to open more easily? i loosened the pivot screw just a bit and lubed it with whitelitning lube and have been playing with it but it still won't "snap-open". is this something that just takes time or is there something else i should try? thanks in advance for any advice. regards, dullboy
 
The snapping open is usually something that takes time, and alot of working the knife. Good luck.

By the way, this is still one of my favorite knives. If a situation arises where I'm only going to carry one knife, the G-10 Harpy gets the nod. It is smaller and lighter than some of my others and the tip down carry makes me feel like I can carry it anywhere on my body safely.
 
if you carry it, you'll probably find the harpy to be very useful in almost any situation. as to loosening it a little, loosen the locking bar pivot a little, very little and you'll see that it works wonders.

and if you want to get another one of these, you might want to hurry. they've been discontinued.
 
Very nice piece. Even if still new from the factory, try soaking (liberal spraying) with WD40 (good penetrating qualities) and air blast if possible. This will rid of any possible lint or any other type of debris that sets in during the manufacturing/ finishing process. Then try your favorite lube. And of course a lot of opening and closing afterwards.

i think i'm getting the hang of the spydie drop and it's loosening up a little too. now i can't wait to get the merlin i ordered before i found the harpy! regards, dullboy
