I just finished up this hawk today, the handle still needs to dry but I was wanting to get a couple pics and see what you guys think.
hawk head is 5 3/4" w/2 3/4" cutting edge, damascus is 1084 + 15n20 low layer (68) with a twist, handle is she oak that John Williams sent, I dyed it with leather dye and then hand rubbed with boiled linseed oil. the handle cap is from a piece of radial damascus I had left from a bowie I'm working on. So what do you all think?? Sorry I didn't have a model available, my wife said no way so I had to settle for a tree. :D

Thanks

Bill

I can't say I really approve of the background on this one, but the hawk looks great. ;)

I hate to ask this, as I'm sure it's way out of my price range, but what do you ask for something like that?(assuming that's an appropriate question).

Bill, it's outstanding as usual!! Got a spot ready and waiting for it, goes in with the rest of the damascus hawks so it won't get lonely. I can't wait to see how this Paela Burl wood I have ready turns out on the next one.

Thanks;

John Williams

Bill, You constantly amaze me with those Hawks!!!! This one is a geeeorgouss as the last!!

Good Grief, I don't think it gets better than one of Bill's hawks with Donna in the back ground. Both very nice pakages, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Your delvery on this piece is incredible Mr. Buxton, it is gorgious. Mr. Donna, your contribution is likewise very likeable. Terry

thanks for the great compliments. Thanks Bruce for the nice back ground picture, but shoot now no one will even notice my hawk. ;)

Thanks Guys

Bill

Great looking hawk!! I have seen a few other pieces with she oak. What is it and where to find it?

Another beautiful hawk Bill. Looks like you folded the billet over and welded, very nice pattern! Looks like it'd fly. :D

thanks again guys,:)

P. Moore, I believe she oak is brought in from Austrialya, but I'm not for sure. This piece was sent to me by the customer, I think he got it from the lumberlady in Az.

Dave, No, the hawk handle hole was split and then I ran a drift through it. Billet was 17 layers when I started, folded and welded 2 times and then drawn into a 1"x 3/4" bar.

Thanks again for all your nice compliments,

Bill

Great looking Damascus great hawk.

p. moore there is a number of professional wood collectors in Australia. They have a licence to collect the exotic timbers and export them. If you want to send me an email I can try to track down some addresses. Our $ only buys about 52 us cents. so it may be economical to have it shiped in handle size pieces. However your timber yards may buy it cheap by the ton. See how you get on locally and let me know if you want some addresses from this end.

Depending on the area of the cut some sheoak is called lace sheaok
the lace is particularly nice.

the space in my adress is actually an _ underscore.

That sure is pretty Bill!

That damascus sure looks fine, I love your etch/finish on it.

Hey, make one of these with a pointy smasher hammer thing-a-ma-bob on the other side. Those ones get 'em coming and going ;)

Nick

I think Mr. Evans should come out with a Calender.
It could possibly sell nationally and really promote his knives. ;) :p

Oh yeah...Another beautiful blade!
