NEW Camillus Heat Knives??
What are th blade markings?

Who is selling these? Camillus? Camillus Blades?

Lifetime Factory Warranty
???
Is that warranty the life of the Factory? :D

440C? Someone is either lying to you or is full of excrement!
I know where they are made...
it is not 440C!

RickR,

If you are implying that the knife was made in China, its not, so lead content is not an issue.

Phil,

Blade markings are:

CAMILLUS BLADES USA
ASSISTED OPENING

Opposing side:

HEAT 3.65
440
DARREL RALPH DESIGN
SPAIN PAT. PEND.

The knife warranty is described in the paper work that comes in the box with the knife.

I talked to Vinny, he told me that the knife is 440C. Vinny and Darrel Ralph headed up the project. From my understanding they may be partners in the Camillus Blades USA company. I know that Darrel has visited this forum in the past you could ask him to verify the information.

As for the knife, its a well built knife. I carried the original Camillus Heat for my EDC for the past 3 years. I put it on the shelf to try out the new Heat, I have to tell you the blade is holding up well, it doesn't act like regular 440 knife.

If you want to take a look at the new knife I think you know where to look, I dont want to give out my website in this forum and bend/break any of the rules.

Interesting development Cookie!

Does not alter the fact the knives Tom is currently selling ARE Taiwan produced AUS-8.

Which is fine! Might even be better than Spanish 440C :p

Quite a while back I asked a question on Blade forums, I asked people to rank a number of steel types. Every one (including you Phil) put 440C at the top of the list. It was also mentioned that 440C was comparable to AUS8 with 440C having the upper hand (on the AUS8). If someone knows how to look up the archives I know its in text.

The 440C that was used to make these knives was American steel shipped to Spain specifically for the Heat Knives. Yes Vinny told me that and other people involved in the project backed up his statement.

I think with all things considered Vinny owns the company and he had the knives made. Unless someone can stand up with hard evidence to the contrary we would should consider the case closed, the knives are made from USA 440C.

I have sold more than a few dozen knives myself at a trade show this past weekend. People look, held, and used the knives first hand, they were impressed and bought the knives. Heck one unknown individual was so impressed he stole one from me (a stolen knives cuts the thief one thousand times).

All things considered this is a nice knife, it has good mechanics and Darrel Ralph has a great design. I give it 2 thumbs up.

RickR,

Are you/were you the "Ricky the knife guy" that sold all of those Camillus knives on ebay?

Tom,

Are those knives marked "Made in Spain"?

I promise I am not trying to bust your chops, I just have a little history with this knife, & perhaps a perspective that is unique.
I am confident they will sell well, Darrel Ralph & Bill Taylor designed a classic in the Heat series.

Phil

Phil,

The words "Made In Spain" do not appear on the knife.

The words "Spain - Pat. Pend." are etched at he base of the blade.

Let me know what your thinking.

What I am thinking would get me banned from BFC!

Never Mind! (Gilda Radner voice)

RickR,

Nice to finally meet you. I always wanted to ask you about the "I'm selling knives not shipping" Your shipping fee is low, but do you know your paying ebay and paypal about 10% of the selling price for listing and selling fees? Unless you were getting some of those knives free you were losing your ass on them. I looked up your information and saw that you are from Camillus, also allot of the knives I was getting from Vinny were the same knives that you were selling. So I'm thinking you worked at Camillus or were friends with Vinny. Anyway good luck.

Come on Phil lets not be covert about this.

The next thing your going to tell me is that BFC is the real import company for these new Heat knives.

In addition to that you were once the Camillus Mod. here

What I am thinking is simply inappropriate for this Forum.

In my humble opinion, discussion of this knife is irrelevant on the Camillus Collector’s Forum as it is clearly not a Camillus knife.
You advertise it as a 2008 knife, Camillus died in 2007.

I am sure it is a great knife. I am personally very fond of all those involved in it. I just don’t think you should be hawking them here.

No disrespect intended, just my perhaps overly protective affection of the real Camillus Cutlery Heritage.

This directly mirrors my feelings about the Taylor Chinese knives stamped "SCHRADE". As no Schrade knives were made after October of 2004, to my knowledge no Camillus knives were made after February 28th 2007. You can stamp them with whatever name you like, but they are still not Schrade or Camillus knives. Maybe it is the "salt-in-the-wound" effect, but no one bought Camillus Cutlery, and no one bought Imperial Schrade.

Codger

Phil,

Although I never met you in person I have allot of respect for your opinion. The information that you obtained in your carrier at Camillus Cutlery is extraordinary. When I was a distributor for Camillus Cutlery I talked to Maureen at least once a week, she made mention to you expertise on more than one occasion. I think that part of the real Camillus Cutlery Heritage died before the closing of the factory. Not with the workers but in the last group of people that owned the company. I do understand to some extent how you feel. I hope you understand that I am in business and that business is to sell knives. I feel that this knife has potential. More over, The original Camillus Heat Knife was never produced at the Camillus, NY factory; It was produced in Taiwan, where is the heritage. The new Camillus Heat is just like the new Camillus Blades Heat, with the exception of the 440C steel and some of the etchings on the blade. I stared this thread because months ago Vinny told me (and I relayed it to the Forum) that the new Heat would be made out of 440C. You made a few comments that it could not be made out of 440C. When I received the knife last week and got the information on the knife it was verified that it was made out of 440C.

Call it hawking or what ever you want, that seems like a personal shot to me, I don't think I gave you a shot like the last few that you have given me.
