Just ordered a new one...does anyone know where to find stainless steel heat treating directions for dummies?

Get some stainless steel foil to put the knives into. Get some aluminum plates so you can "plate quench". Follow instructions from the steel maker and do a search here.Follow temperature recommendations carefully, making sure you soak long enough.Cryo often recommended though not strictly necessary. Have fun !!

1) Get yourself a Machinery's Handbook. Lots of good info for heat treating, as well as just about everything else. I hear there are plans for merging it with the King James Version of The Bible real soon...

2) Evenheat has a good collection of HT info on their site.

3) Search this forum for specific metals you wish to HT.

4) ALWAYS pay close attention to whatever Mete says! :D

Thanks Guys, I ordered a 22" oven I am excited about getting started. Last week a lost 6 blades in the mail going to ht, that put me over the edge, so I bought one.
