The insulating fibre blanket should be covered with Satainte or other coating.
Especially before the first firing, it becomes brittle and friable after being heated.

Don't worry guys, I'm being safe, just gave her a quick test run outside the shop to make sure the burner was working properly before I sealed everything up.

Next steps are to coat the refractory blanket with satanite, install a front door, and wire up my thermocouple. Then it will be ready to go into full production mode.

Internal depth of this thing is about 30" so I'll be able to do some larger pieces with much better temperature control than I was able to achieve with my regular forge
