I'm new to this forum and have a trival question regarding to the knife in movie: Mission Impossible. I am trying to find out what was the knife used by Jean Reno and if it is still available. Trying to get this as a present for my brother.

Hi!

This has been discussed a few times, if i remember correctly the conclusion was that it was a movie prop and thus not available.

Hopefully i'm wrong so you can get one for your brother :)

I am not sure exactly which knife you are talking about, nor which movie it was in. If it happens to be the knife that nearly wound up in Tom Cruise's eye, that would be a Kershaw Amphibian. Since I own this baby, I nearly instantly recognized it as I saw the movie. Tis precicely the sort of device one would fear having one's eye removed with.

Hope this helps.

I think it was MI2 where the Kershaw appears, thought I'm not sure.

"The Knife" from MI1, which has generated more "what was that knife" threads than just about any movie appearance (more even than the POS "kris" balisong in Face Off (don't get me started)), was a Boker model that was discontinued several years ago. There was some talk of some minor cosmetic mods to it for the movie. It's really the drama of the scene that makes the knife look good.

Continuing the knife and movie theme, balisongs can be seen in Exit Wounds and The Crow, City of Angels. In Exit Wounds, Steven Seagal carries a kris balisong but does no tricks. The Crow, had one of the former Power Rangers pull out a balisong (after running out of shuriken)but again no tricks.

The knife in MI the Reno was carrying was a fixed bladed all black knife. It was in the shape of a 110 or Puma rendition (but with a more pronounced clip) including indentation in the butt area of the handle for the lock release (then though there wasn't one....i.e. fixed blade).
If that jogs anyone's memory.

Nope, Chuck(Gollnick) got this one. It most definitely was some sort of varient of the Boker "Bokermatic" knife.
