Hey guy. I'm new to this forum and am thinking about getting a Strider AR folder. Actually I'm sure I am. I have some questions though I thought you guys could answer.
1. Do all the folders come in tiger stripe or are there other finishes?

2. I read in "Tactical Knives" that the blades are 3/16ths. I thought they were all .25" Now I know you can get your Strider in almost any thickness but what is the most common or standard thickness that I will find on the market or the for sale forums?

3. I have seen the AR in both BG42 and ATS-34. That being said which is the better steel. I know BG42 has good stainless qualities but since I take really good care of my blades rust is never a problem. So which of the two will have best all around edge holding and durability and lateral strength?

4. I own a Sebenza right now (sorry if that is a dirty word here) and it can be taken apart and cleaned really easily. Can the AR be taken apart as easy by the owner or is that a Job for the Strider guys?

5. I saw on Triple Aught that they would be getting tritium thumb studded AR's. Will the tritium thumd studs be available to everyone who already own AR's or should I wait and buy one from T.A.D.?

6. And how much do you guys like your ARs?

I think(i'm not sure)that the aluminum oxide blast finish is an option. The aluminum oxide finish is the plain looking one.

Go with BG-42

They are standard with 3/16

I hope that helped a little:)

I ordered the GB folder Ryu. After months of debating, I placed an order with TAD. I couldn't take it anymore. I got on the list. Now I got two Striders I am waiting for from TAD. These knives are some awesome ****. Got the Model BT and boy it is awesome! The quality is unbeleivable! I also got a couple of Buck Strider tanto points. The large and small. Nice man! Different from the Busse designs. I am happy to own both. So will you bro! Gonna test out the large Buck Strider folder this weekend. Hows the sword??? That thing was beatiful. Take care, and good luck.

I just got my AR (thanks Strider guys!) and it is positively b*tchin. The new full flat grind is perfect, and the tiger stripe is an attention getter. A friend of mine took one look at it and immediately ordered one. The knife is rock solid and hair shaving sharp. I couldn't be more pleased. Mick and Duane have outdone themselves with this folder design. I'm not a big fan of liner locks after having several models from the other guy fail me, but this looks like it will restore my faith.

Ditto to everything said here. Got mine after someone else posted a thread comparison here between the custom and Buck versions. Immediately called up OSO Grande and had one of their last AR's shipped overnight to me. Has never left my side, just like my Amex Gold, its a requirement not an option when walking out the door in the morning :)

Mine is tiger striped BG-42, I have been extremely impressed with the BG-42's performance. Haven't had any Strider blades with ATS-34, but people around here have been raving about them as much as their BG-42 blades, so you are probably in great shaper either way.

You won't regret it, nothing else out there can come close...............yet :D...........ah the great sound of grinding....

I've seen a different finish for the AR but I believe that the new models are tiger striped.

I like BG-42 for the smaller blades and am glad that the AR is available in BG-42. The larger Strider models that I have use ATS-34 and I have no complaints about it.

I too own a Sebenza and like it a lot. I don't think that taking apart an AR is easy unless you have the right tools. Mick has suggested cleaning out the pivot with brake cleaner.

I'm not sure if and when TAD is getting the tritium studs. Best to call them and ask. I would go with larger studs though.

How much do I like my AR? There are not enough words for me to describe how much I like this knife :D Once you hold one you will see for yourself that there is nothing else out there that can compare. If you like a large folder, and I mean large in all respects, the AR is it. To me it is the knife that I always want to have on me. It has replaced all my EDC folders to the point that I will begin to sell the rest to buy more Striders. Get one and you will not be dissapointed.

I got my AR 2 days ago, and I'm really liking it. Sure, I had to sell off 7 other knives to get it, but it was worth it....worth every penny, and the ass kickin' I had to endure from the wife for spending $400 on another box cutter :)

I must say, the finger choil is truly outstanding in my opinion. In fact, it's a stroke of genious. The reason being, if the liner lock does fail somehow, the blade still will not be able to close on your fingers, due to the choil! Only other liner lock I have seen with this is the Spyderco Native. Not to mention the finger choil makes it easy to choke up on the blade for delicate cutting tasks...

Yes, I'm loving my AR for sure...

how long is the wait if I order one from Strider? And do I have to pay in advance or just put down a percentage?

Mr. Strider (or someone in the know) should you read this. Will those of us who already own ARs or GBs be able to get the tritium thumb studs from Strider or will they only be a TAD offering on their Strider knives.
