Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself. It's my first post here!

I started out playing paintball (still do) and then I slowly became interested in firearms (just finished building my custom 10/22) and then flashlights and knives became a natural progression.

I have a Benchmade Mel Pardue 550 and Rescue hook that I carry geocaching (another hobby of mine).

Does anyone notice that all these hobbies are somehow linked? I mean it's no big deal there are forums for paintball or for guns or for knives. But how many of you guys have firearms? I bet plenty. And how many of you have Surefires, AAA's and Inova's? Again, I bet many. Must be some complex or syndrome don't you think? To me it's like seeing a NASCAR message board with a section for gardening.

Oh yes, just ordered a Smith and Wesson First Repsonse. I have some Benchmades, CRKT's, Spyderco's and Kershaws on my want list.

Thanks for hosting a great forum!

Welcome. You'll find yourself accepted I'd bet if you just scan a bit before posting. And be nice, too.

Welcome, svyv...sgyz...syz.....uhhh....dude.

Played paintball once but found out I suck at it so I never went again, don't know anything about guns, geocaching sounds kinda cool but not something I could afford. But...I do have a Surefire, Arc AAA and an Inova so I guess I have a complex.

Anyway, welcome to the madness that we call Bladeforums.

I'm sorry, did I post something improper?

If it was the "complex" comment, I wasn't saying it as a negative thing. I was just saying it's an observation I've had lately. I suffer from it more than anyone!

Welcome. Glad to have you on BF. I trust that you will learn a lot and have fun doing it.

Welcome to the forums,
I don't think you posted anything that was improper.

I think Rusty meant that a new member would do good to do a bit of reading around the forums (and the FAQs), before asking questions that have been asked a million times before or posting inappropriately, etc.

Welcome, and have fun.

Well I do think an association of interest in relation to the other things you mentioned is more readily understandable than NASCAR's and gardening. So I don't really follow your analogy, but no matter.

I'm reasonably certain Rusty was just giving 'general advice', nothing more. He is rather Himalayan, you see.

The important thing is - welcome to the Board.

Welcome to the forums.

There are quite a few members that have some great knife-gun combos. If you do a search you will see some threads with some great pics.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I did not mean syzygy. I really did mean sygyzy when I spell my nick. syzygy is when the Earth, Sun, and Moon line up in a straight line. Well that is one of the definitions. There are 2 others I believe. It's also a company in San Diego, CA. My spelling is a variation of it and much more uncommon but still used by various companies and people.

My NASCAR analogy was just an example. I was just surprised that there was a link to all these hobbies. That so many people that liked one of them tended (for the most part) to like the others too.

Again, thanks everyone! I hope to post here often. :)

sygyzy, almost sounds Hungarian, there's always room for another Mad Hungarian. and if not, welcome anyway, nice place, good people, lots of info, so sit back and enjoy the show.:D
