Been browsing around here for a while. Thought I would say "hi" and ask a couple questions, if that would be o.k.
I have hunted and fished all of my life, and have never really thought I was a Buck collector. But after digging around in my knife box the other day I realized over the years I have picked up several Buck knives. I've noticed a lot of discussion on different kinds of steel used by Buck over the years, such as 440C, 425 and 420. My question is, I have three 105 Buck's. Two are three lined Bucks with no date stamps, and one is a two line. I was just wondering if anyone knows what type of steel was used in them.
Another question is when did they quit using the burgundy or reddish colored spacer that comes down behind the guard on the knife, where your thumb would rest if you held the knife upside down.
Sorry I don't have a picture. Thanks for any help.
Mike
