Welcome to bladeforums. Love the Old Hickorys and the Becker.

I just gotta point out though...the one on the top appears to be a ping pong paddle and not actually a knife.

Welcome to BF. Stick around and you'll be buying a whole bunch more I suspect:D

Is that one of those bowies that you can screw spikes into the handguard and use as an anchor? Nice Gerber BTW! Oh and welcome!

Yes. It is made of 440 stainless, will shave hair, made in Japan, was $40, & was purchased when Buck came out with thiers, only with a shorter blade. It also has a hollow handle. I did not expect much from it, but over the years I have used the living heck out of it & have not broke it. The Gerber Mark 2 survival was purchase in 1981 in Kaiserslautern Germany.

It was titled as a machete. I used it this year to dress a deer. It works well but you gotta "choke up" on it. It was only $16. I had to sand down the wood & finished it with some MinWax, to make it weather resistant. I do not like handles that absorb moisture & swell. Sheath by itself was worth the $16.

Answered my own question....I found a BudK knife on Amazon called the Big Foot Bowie which appears to be this exact design. It's only $17.99 so quality is suspect, as is the un-named stainless steel in the blade. However....it looks cool!

Now if I can only find an Al Mar Alaskan Bowie....

You can't fool me...that's a ping pong paddle! You sound like a feller who appreciates an inexpensive, big knife....which is cool by me.

What you need to do is get yourself a BlackJack Grunt. 20 bucks, decent steel, convexed, largish, built like a tank. Just got one myself. Put a little bit of time in refining the edge...its a razor. Fun knife. Pretty unstoppable, and a LOT of quality for a double sawbuck.

Welcome, Twin Sticks your going to do just fine here, your finances maybe a different story as they probably will not fair so well.

LOL, thanks fellas. I am almost 50 now & have always loved a quality knife for a good price point. Current favorites are the entire OKC Spec Plus line & the BK&T BK2 i recently bought. I am a HUGE fan of full tang HD USA made knives/machetes/Kukri's, that are a good value as well.

ah, a man who loves his outdoors..welcome home!
until just a moment ago, i didn't know that marbles had such a cool orange jungle cleaver to brave the wilderness.
it's quite literally, a largely unforgettable choice.
wonders never cease, i actually learnt something new...
