Hey There,

I am new I think this is my third post. I have posted in the pohl force section due to the new Pohl Force Mike three outdoor I bought about two weeks ago.I love the mike 3. Well I have about 7 folders now and a only a couple fixed blades and I am about to make another purchase. So to give you a quick back ground I just started collecting knives. I have always liked folding knives but never really had time growing up or the money. After college I started a business and never found the money for cool knives. Closed the business in 2011 and went to work in the Aerospace field as a proffesional hand finisher. Now that I make some money my good friend an avid collector got me started by giving me a couple really nice knives. All of the knives I was given were mid to high end folders and a k-bar fighting knife.

With all that said I am going to make a 200-350 dollar knife purchase this weekend. So cant decide what to go with , so many options. I love tactical folders but also like larger main stream stuff as well, but tacticool usually wins over. I use most of my knives for EDC and thats about it I dont do a tone of camping or hiking , yet one day I will.

Ok, sorry to the point... I am considering the following:

1. Protech, Les George rockeye auto
2. Southern Grind, Bad monkey
3. Red Blade knives, Pig (i know its out of my budget but still considering)
4. Fox (md) Knives fx-516
5. Benchmade, 755 if I can find one

Ther are so so mony to consider but those are what I am thinking in order so Southern grind and protech I first choices.

So any suggestions would be great.. Thanks all ...oh by the way figured I would list what I already have :
1. zt 0350ts
2. zt 0550
3. Pohl force Mike three
4. DPX hest 2.0
5. Viper Start micarta
6. HTM ddr gunhammer
7. MicroTech Ultratech OTF
8. Benchmade small bone collector
9. brk/esse avispa
10. Custommized Ontario Falcon fixed
11. K-bar fighting knife
12. Emerson CQC-7a-bts (on its way)
:D

Ok so more than 7..

Hope I did not post something I should not have .. I am still new here. Any suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks

Congrats on your first post!

The only knife I can comment on with any real knowledge is the Southern Grind Bad Monkey. We sell a good number of them and never get a complaint. Their fit and finish are top notch and while people who do not own them are not keen on the blade steel, those that own them say it performs fantastically. I have carried one in my rotation for over a year now and have been impressed with it every time I use it. If you think it is too big, consider looking at the Spider Monkey!

Good luck in your choice!

If you're considering the Bad Monkey, I'd also suggest looking at the Spider Monkey. I've seen a few members speak highly of them. They're also very sexy knives!

Of those you listed, I would pick the Southern Grind Bad Monkey. It suits 'my' tastes better :)
Have you looked at the Microtech, Death On Contact?(that name cracks me up) or DOC for short?

Man those are all very bitchen knives. So I am going to order both the PT les george and the Bad monkey. Once I get those I think my next blade is going to be a Microtech "doc" ... Thank you all very much. I will hit Mr. Witty up for the bad monkey shortly. I might even spring for both the bad and spider monkeys... I think I have a real addiction. I just ordered a Viper Knives "free" on a impulse buy. I paid less than 100.00 for it new on a sale when buying some knife accessories..Man I am going to go broke. Gotta love the motivation to go to work.

Thanks again for feeding my habit, safer than booze....

I've been looking at a pohl force m3 for a while, I have a alpha 3 with a lock back that is super strong, I'm curious about their frame lock's so let me know if you buy one :)
the ultratech is a awesome edc:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'm much like you (were), I love Knives, but just can't bring myself around to financially pull the trigger on "expensive" Knives (yet). I have a decent sized budget collection, Knives of all types and sizes ranging from $10-$100 dollars, but haven't been able to bring myself around too save up for those $200+ knives; whenever I start, I get a little bit stashed away, and then another $50 or $80 knife that catches my eye, and I wind up buying it, another $25 dollar one, and a Mora or something along those lines, and there goes my little knife account...
With my current collection though I feel close to where I'm content enough in what I own that I'll be able to put off smaller purchases more easily then before, and a few high(er) end Knives are on the horizon; David Boye and Arno Bernard are atop my list, but the one "Tactical" folder that really has my attention and is on my short list is the;
Wilson Combat Rapid Response xl (w/ cocobolo inlay).
(Made by Fox knives, and ELMAX steel has become my favorite knife steel to date), to me it is just a sexy knife w/ a flipper.

I have a Mike three outdoor .. Its totally awsome. Made for pohl force by lion steel has all the high end features you need in a knife. Fit and finish is great and the mechanics are super smooth.

Your list is nice, but incomplete without a CRK. I would highly suggest a large Sebenza. You should be able to buy a very nice one...nearly new...on the Exchange here for about $325. If you don't like it, you can easily resell it for $325.
Note that CRK has its OWN sales link...so I've included the link below...
The Spider Monkey, already listed, is also something that I have had some interest in...

I carried a Pohl Force Foxtrot 1 for a few months. Any of the Pohl Force framelock folders are a good idea.

Aren't Pohl Force knives made by LionSteel?

I've never fondled any Pohl Force knives, but damn near every LionSteel knife that I've handled was very nice!

check out some of the microtech knives, bark river or stryder there all higher end good quality knives

The framelock models are made by LionSteel.

seems you like tactical and big, therefore I am going to suggest 2 knives, both different in many ways, first a BM 630 Skirmish, Neil Blackwood. As close to custom as BM gets and 100% the backbone power it appears you crave. The 630-400 modles are slick and the lock is rock tight. I own many CRK's and none, IMO exceed the 630-400 Blackwoods. Next is a true, and I mean 100% actual Buck TNT-Mayo in ATS 34 with Bos HT. Look around and find the 25th year collector model, again finish is unreal and the ats-34/bos is unstoppable. Several guys on sit do a great job anodizing Ti, and you can get a custom look on either knife. Lastly Charlie Mike, is making some sick Fixed blades and nothing beats his logo in your arsenal. Good luck friend. Buck 880 Strider ats34/bos can still be had NIB <$200, a hell of a lot of knife. But I am old school and I buy steel, not names.

It is also disturbingly void of any Spydercos. :(

Well thats a good point. This last week i actually got my first two spydies in the mail. I now have the low cost high value tenacious and Delica 4 (brown). I am going to be adding a endura 4 to match the little delica that I am in total love with as a EDC.

I also added a couple big knives from Zero Tolerance I found used in like new condition. The 0200,0560bw, and a 0562 with g10. All are extremely cool and I got them pretty cheap at 300 for the set. Oh and I did get the Les/protech and I love it for an auto. I am thinking a Les Talos soon. The strider knives are something I am looking into for a new purchase soon.. I am really liking the sng with the green and flamed ti.

I do usually like bigger knives. My good friend that got me into this obsession/addiction has a CRK Sebenza and frankly it was not really my cup of tea ....very nice but lacking in a few personal needs in a folder. Some day I will own a crk fixed blade , very nice tactical knives.

Thanks all for the suggestions, makes for some fun web and forum surfing,

Cold Steel Rajah 2.

LOL yeah into bigger knives but within reason... The 0200 that I just got is to big for me, I might trade it ... So yeah the rajah2 is a bit of a comedy.. Thanks though, fun to look.

Oh and I think the polh force mike three is a great size as well as the zt 0562. If that helps id my size preference.
