Hey y'all, i've been reading these forums for a little while now and learning alot. I've yet to actually post here, not sure i could offer much at this point. Anyways, I'm relatively knew to knives and I've really been getting into them and gaining more and more interest in learning the ins and outs. Long story short, im hooked! so i was rummaging through some old family junk boxes and i came across a really old Case folder that my grandpap carried at work just about everyday of his life as ive been told. No one knows anything about it or what it really is, so i thought i'd come here. It just turned into a new fun little fixer-upper project with lots of sentimental value! Any help with details or pointers on this knife, please chime in.

Thanks! I look forward to hanging around!

Welcome GarnetandBlack :)

I'm new here myself. As for the knife, I can't really give you any pointers about fixing it up nor what it exactly is, I did a quick google image search of a few, and it resembles the "peanut" model the most out of the ones I saw. Do not take my word for it though. My knowledge of case knives is limited. I wish you luck on the knife, and enjoy your stay here.

the case guys over at traditionals will like the second picture. the 6232 (medium texas jack) is still being made today. still a good buy but some things are no longer there. most noticeable in your second picture is the nickel-silver shield. it's still on, being pinned to the brass liner (i didn't think it would out-live the delrin handle!) in today's case knives, the shields are just glued on the scale so they fall off in time.

they say the golden age of traditional slipjoint knives was from 1890s to 1930s. the base case knives were made from the 1940s to early 1970s.

Based on the tang stamp, yours was made between 1940-1964.
