I've got a couple knives my old man gave me that I never really use which are really meaningful to me and he said they're both great knives i should hang on to.

this is the knife he had made for me when I was born in 1986, and he said it took a year or two to make while we lived in Florida where the knives are made, or used to be made? i recieved it on my 18th birthday and was a total surprise, i think it's a nice all-around knife.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to clean the markings on it from laying on top of the leather case for the last few years? it's just on the one side and like I said it was sitting on top of the case. never had the markings before i received it.

we got some of it off with some kind of polish but the rest of it won't come off.

thoughts? thank you!

Looks like corrosion. Not supposed to store the knife in the sheath or on it for that matter. Im sure there are guys that can help more than I but have you tried Flitz? You may have to resort to having a knife smith or shop do a belt polish on it or better yet, send it back to Randall to have them clean it up. It is a valuable knife.

Post #1: "I has a knife from my dad. Is it good?"
<insert picture of amazing stag Randall here>

thork86, congratulations on making my day. My first BF post was not this good.

I'm sure you have googled "Randall knives" already, but yes, that is a very nice and valuable knife. To take care of the markings, I would contact Randall and I'm sure they will be able to help you out.

Thanks fellas, I knew it was a good knife when I heard the story about its journey from 1986 to 2004, and it will never leave my possession as long as I live. The old man was in the Secret Service for nearly 30 years, so I guess he knew what he was doing when he bought the knife for me as a wee lad.

And of course, once I saw their website, it was a shock to say the least!

I'll likely send it to Randall to see if they can help me out a bit, but those links helped a lot too, thank you for that.

I'll stick around and check out the posts, you guys seems very friendly and helpful, and thanks once again for the help!
