Hey everyone!

I am new to this forum and came here from a suggestion from someone on Imgur.

So, I found this ace head the other day while I was metal detecting and was hoping to clean it up. I could use some tips on restoring it.

I think it had be buried for a long while since it was around 6 inches underground and the rust is unbelievable. Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks in advance!

Jacob

Something like that can be soaked in vinegar. That will slowly disolve rust.
Scrub off the muck every day or so until you are happy with it.
As far as an axe, Its nothing special collector wise & its maybe a fun experiment but badly buggered to bother trying to make a user tool.

hey sorry im late but yeah, what he said. just do some research when you're gonna sharpen it. a lot of people get it wrong.
what liebald means is soak the head in vinegar for 24 hours, scrub it with a steel brush and repeat until you're happy. lastly, watch a video on how to re-handle it, a lot of people get that wrong too. at worst you got yourself a fancy new hammer
